LOPATCONG, NJ (04/14/02) - Saint Joseph's University junior
Paul Polinsky became the first Hawk golfer since 1997 to win an individual golf tournament, taking top honors at the Lafayette Invitational played at the Architects Club over the weekend. The only player in the tournament to finish below par, Polinsky shot a 72 on day one and a 69 on day two for a total of 141 (-1). In the team's final tune-up before next weekend's Atlantic 10 Championships, the Hawks' played their best golf of the year and earned the squad its second runner-up finish of 2001-02. The Crimsoan and Gray also placed second at the Binghamton Invitational in the Fall.
The last Hawk golfer prior to Polinsky to win an Invitaitonal event was Kevin McDermott, the older brother of current Hawk
Brian McDermott, at the St. John's Invitational in the fall of 1997.
