SWARTHMORE, PA (09/08/02) -- The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team dominated the field in their fall opener, taking all four singles flights and both doubles flights at the Swarthmore Fall Invitational.
Sophomore Francisco Velazquez defeated freshman teammate Jimmy Holland, 6-2, 3-6 and 10-6 in a third set tiebreak to win the Flight A Championship.
In Flight B, sophomore Van Homer Pangilinan defeated freshman teammate Greg Chang in the finals, 1-6, 6-2 and 10-7 in a third set tiebreak.
Flight C saw freshman Antonio Aniello defeat Swarthmore's Dave Gentry, 6-2, 6-2 and in Flight D, A.J. Garabedian defeated classmate Jeff Olson, 6-0,6-0.
In doubles, the pair of Velazquez and Pangilinan dropped Brian Park and Jayson Yost of Swarthmore, 8-5, to win the Flight A title. Meanwhile, junior Bob Cappelli and Aniello defeated Hawks Chang and Jeremy Speicher, 8-3, to finish off the sweep.
