CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Othman Bezzaz and Ernesto Ruy of the Saint Joseph's men's tennis team made more program history on Thursday as the pair advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 ITA East Sectional Championships on the campus of the University of North Carolina.
 
Bezzaz and Ruy battled from a set down to beat fourth-seeded Henrik Bladelius and Noa Vukadin of Clemson, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 in a supertiebreaker in the Round of 16.
 
The pair will compete in the quarterfinals against Ian Mayew and Kase Schinnerer of the host Tar Heels on Friday afternoon.  The winner will advance to the semifinals and is guaranteed an opportunity to play for a spot in the NCAA Doubles Championship as the two finalists and the winner of a third-place playoff will qualify for the event, scheduled for November 18-23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
