HAWKS DROP 3-2 TO ILLINOIS-CHICAGO

PHILADELPHIA, PA (3/3/02)-- The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team fell to University of Illinois/Chicago 3-2 during Sunday afternoon's match. The match was held on Swarthmore's campus. Freshmen Francisco Velazquez and Van Homer Pangilinan continue to lead the Hawks at the #2 and #3 singles positions. Velazquez defeated Illini foe Ken Howrey 6-3,7-5, while Pangilinan won his match 6-1,6-4. Seniors Shawn Farrokh and Damon Denin dropped tough matches at the #1 and #4 slots falling 6-1,6-1 and 7-6, 6-2 respectively. The Hawks, now 2-5 on the season, look to rebound when they head to Texas to compete during SJU's spring break.
