PHILADELPHIA (02/08/03 - The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team went up against its toughest opponent of the season to date and came away empty handed, falling to #55 Virginia, 7-0. The Cavaliers also defeated Penn, 7-0, earlier in the day.
Sophomore Francisco Velazquez battled against Doug Stewart, ranked #107 by the ITA, but fell 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Jimmy Holland also performed well, dropping a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Michael Duquette.
The Hawks fall to 2-1 on the season, while UVa. improves to 6-0.
SJU returns to the courts on Monday, February 10 at St. Peter's.
