PHILADELPHIA (01/13/03) - Sophomore Delonte West finally is getting some overdue recognition. Lost at times in the huge shadow cast by his All-America candidate teammate, Jameer Nelson, West turned in two stellar performances last week to earn a share of the Philadelphia Big Five Player of the Week Award. West, who is second to Nelson in scoring (15.5 ppg.) while tied for the team lead in rebounding (4.9 rpg.), led the Hawks in scoring in both wins last week, tallying 17 points in the team's win at St. Bonaventure on Wednesday night and 19 in Saturday's victory over UMass. He also added a career-high eight assists against SBU. He shares the honor with Ricky Wright of Villanova.
