Deuce Jones II and
Justice Ajogbor of the Saint Joseph's men's basketball team have been voted Preseason All-Conference as announced by the Atlantic 10 on Tuesday morning as part of its annual media day. Jones was selected A-10 Preseason First Team and Ajogbor was voted to the All-Defensive Team.
Jones was the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year last season, averaging 12.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game. A seven-time A-10 Rookie of the Week, he improved his numbers in conference play, scoring 14.3 a contest. The sophomore from Trenton, N.J. recorded double figures in 20 contests during the year, topped the 20-point mark seven times and had a career-best 27 points against the Hawks in the regular season finale on March 8.
Ajogbor was on the All-Defensive Team a year ago, ranking fifth in NCAA Division I with 86 blocks. He started all 35 games for the Hawks, averaging 4.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. He had five games with five or more blocks, 15 with three or more and recorded multiple blocks in 11 consecutive games from December 21 through February 1. In the postseason, he turned his defense up ever further, posting 4.0 blocks per game in the A-10 Championship and NIT, also setting a career-high with eight blocks in the NIT Quarterfinals against UAB (3/19/25), the second-highest single-game total in the tournament's history.
As a team, Saint Joseph's was voted seventh in the preseason poll. VCU and Saint Louis were one point apart for the top two spots with each team receiving 11 first place votes.Â
St. Joe's opens its season on Monday, November 3, hosting Lafayette at 7:00 p.m.
