MALLON SIDELINED FOR 3 TO 6 WEEKS WITH STRESS FRACTURE

PHILADELPHIA (11/10/03) - Saint Joseph's forward Dave Mallon (East Aurora, N.Y) will be sidelined three to six weeks after suffering a stress fracture in his foot. The 6-10 sophomore was injured in practice on Friday (Nov. 7), and the MRI done on Sunday revealed a stress fracture in the third metatarsal of his right foot. Mallon will wear a boot to immobilize the foot and aid the healing process. Mallon played in all 30 games last season, starting 29 of them. He averaged 1.6 points and 1.9 rebounds per game, with a season high of six points and 16 minutes against Richmond on March 1. The 18th-ranked Hawks open the season on Friday, November 14, against #12 Gonzaga in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Madison Square Garden. Game time is 9 p.m. for the nationally-televised contest.
