Velazquez began the tournament by defeating Ursinus' Ben Isser (6-1, 6-2) and Will Plyer (6-4, 6-2). He then matched up against Boston College's #2 singles player, Chris McCoy. Velazquez won in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-1, 4-6, 10-2 to advance to face Princeton's #3 singles player, Sratha Saengsumarn. Velazquez again needed a third-set tiebreaker, winning 6-1, 4-6, 10-2 to reach the finals.

Holland white-washed Ursinus' Jason Brown, 6-0, 6-0 and downed Kyle McDonald, 7-5, 6-3. Next up was Oregon's highly regarded freshman Christopher Liao. Holland dispatched one of the PAC-10's top recruits, 6-1, 6-4 to face Jordan Magarik of Vanderbilt. The rising junior defeated Magarik, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 to meet Velazquez.

The SJU men's tennis team finished its season with a 10-10 record and a best-ever fourth place showing at the Atlantic 10 Championships. The Hawks return all six starters in hopes to make a run at their first A-10 title.
