PHILADELPHIA (12/21/03) - Freshman Ayahna Cornish has received the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for her performance in Thursday's 74-67 win over visiting Virginia. The guard led the team with 17 points and helped the Hawks secure a victory over an ACC opponent for the first time since 1999. The Philadelphia native shot 7-for-13 from the floor in a career high 39 minutes against the Cavaliers. Cornish is third on the team in scoring at 8.3 points per game. This is the first time in her career she has been honored by the conference and the first Hawk to earn conference recognition this season.
