PHILADELPHIA (3/10/02) - Saint Joseph's University's men's and women's basketball teams have each gained postseason bids to participate in the upcoming National Invitation and Women's National Invitation Tournaments, respectively. The Hawk men will travel to George Mason to open the tournament on Tuesday, March 12 at 7:00 PM. The women, meanwhile, are slated to host Siena in the women's tournament's opening round on Thursday, March 14 at 7:00 PM at the Fieldhouse. SJU's women will be making their second WNIT appearance. They previously made the WNIT field in 1998. The men are making their twelfth NIT appearance. SJU last made the NIT in 1996, advancing all the way to the tournament's title game in Madison Square Garden in head coach Phil Martelli's first season at the helm.
