Phil Martelli will miss this afternoon's game at Fordham due to the flu. It marks the first time in his seven-year tenure at SJU that he has missed a game.
Martelli, who has compiled a 121-85 record at SJU, started feeling ill on Friday. Following the team's practice, the Hawk coach return to rest with the intention of joining the team on Saturday morning. His condition worsened overnight, and he was advised to remain home.
The Hawks entered Saturday's game at Fordham with a 14-7 record, and in first place in the Atlantic 10 East Division standings with an 8-1 record. Matt Brady, who is in his ninth year as an assistant at the SJU, will serve as the team's head coach for Saturday's game.
