PHILADELPHIA (10/27/03) - The Saint Joseph's men's rowing program continued a solid fall campaign at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday and the Atlantic 10 Head Race on Sunday.
At the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, SJU boated six eights and a four, once again displaying force in numbers.
The Varsity 8 had a great row finishing 5th out of 19 boats, just behind Temple and Navy and ahead of Marist, Drexel, GW and many other
tough crews.
The Varsity Lightweights took to the water against a highly competitive field and finished in 2nd place, just one second behind Penn and well ahead of crews like Georgetown, Delaware and Fordham.
The Hawks also rowed a pair of JV 8s in the Club 8 event. Both finished very well in the field of 35 crews, placing 10 and 28th, respectively.
Among the Novices, SJU's Freshman 8 and Freshman 4 both placed in the top three, while the second Freshman 8 finished a strong 10th ahead of many school's 1st Freshman 8s.
On Sunday at the Atlantic 10 Head Race, the Hawk men swept the eights events against A-10 rivals Temple, LaSalle,and Fordham. SJU crews finished 1st and 2nd in the Varsity 8 event and 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Freshman 8.
