PHILADELPHIA (3/4/04)- Three Saint Joseph's players earned all-conference recognition from the Atlantic 10 at the annual postseason banquet held at the Doubletree Hotel on Thursday night. Seniors
Stephanie Graff,
Erin Brady and
Irina Krasnoshiok all received All-Atlantic 10 honors, while Graff was also named to the All-Defensive and All-Academic teams.
Graff, an All-Atlantic 10 Second Team selection, leads the team in rebounding (7.1), field goal percentage (.511), and blocked shots (61). The 6-2 southpaw holds the school record for blocks in a game (7), season (61), and career (160) and scored her 1,000th career point on February 1 versus Richmond. The co-captain is 7th in career rebounding (736) and 13th in career scoring (1,110) at Saint Joseph's. It is the first time she has earned all-conference recognition.
For the second straight season, Graff was named to the Academic All-Conference team. An elementary education major with a 3.72 GPA, Graff was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 First Team earlier this season and advanced to the Academic All-America ballot, announced tomorrow.
Brady, a third team honoree, is a first-time all-conference player. She paces the Hawks in assists (90) along with averaging 10.7 points per game, good for third on the team. Last year's team MVP, Brady scored her 1,000th point on February 26 at Rhode Island.
Krasnoshiok earned a spot on the third team for the second straight season. A preseason honorable mention All-American by Street and Smith's, Krasnoshiok leads the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game and is second in rebounding (5.3 rpg.). After scoring her 1,000th point on January 23 versus La Salle, the 6-5 center has moved up to 11th on the all-time scoring list with 1,158 points.
George Washington's Cathy Joens and Candace Futrell shared Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and were members of the first team. Richmond's Kate Flavin, Xavier's Tara Boothe, and George Washington's Anna Montanana. The second team is comprised of Graff, Temple's Candice Dupree, George Washington's Ugo Oha, St. Bonaventure's Stephanie Collins, and Richmond's Saona Chapman. Dayton's Stefanie Miller, Rhode Island's Denise King and Tanya Rhodes join Brady and Krasnoshiok on the third team.
La Salle's Crista Ricketts was named the Rookie of the Year, Oha was named the Defensive Player of the Year, Fordham's Monica Mack was named the Most Improved Player, GW's Valerie Williams was named the Sixth Player of the Year. Temple's Dawn Staley was named the Coach of the Year.
Saint Joseph's finished the regular season with an 18-9 overall record and 12-4 mark in the Atlantic 10, placing it second in the A-10 East Division. The Hawks receive a first round bye in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, which begins Friday at SJU's Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse, and play the winner of Massachusetts-Duquesne on Saturday, March 6, at 2:00 p.m
