WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington broke open a 2-1 second-half lead with four unanswered goals to defeat Saint Joseph's in men's soccer action.

The loss drops the Hawks to 1-8-1 (0-3-0 Atlantic 10), while GW wins its first league game of the year and improves to 4-5-2 (1-2-0 A-10).

GW led only 2-1 with less than 30 minutes remaining in the match but then opened it up. Steve Brown scored two goals in a span of 40 seconds to give the Colonials a 4-1 advantage.

A little more than eight minutes later, Michael Rollings scored his second goal of the game to increase the lead to 5-1. Thomas Stuber tallied the final goal in the 81st minute.

GW took an early 1-0 lead at the 10:59 mark when sophomore Abimbola Pedro scored with an acrobatic bicycle kick from five-yards out.

A minute and a half later, Saint Joseph's freshman Mike McInaw scored his third of the season to tie the score, 1-1, with an assist from sophomore Jim Slover.

With a little more than five minutes remaining in the first half, Rollings came off the bench and quickly scored to put GW ahead, 2-1.

Although they have yet to play a home game this season, the Hawks will be in Philadelphia on Sunday visiting La Salle at 1 p.m.
