PHILADELPHIA - La Salle scored two goals in the first 10 minutes en route to a 3-1 win over Saint Joseph's in men's soccer on a windy day at McCarthy Stadium. The loss drops the Hawks to 1-9-1 (0-4-1 A-10), while the Explorers improve to 5-5-3 (2-0-1).

In the second minute, Scott Golden unloaded a shot that hit the left goalpost and bounced out to Jeremy Ortiz, who drilled the ball into the back of the net. Less than eight minutes later, Golden lofted a ball toward the far right corner, where Jim Davis chipped it to Ryan Moseley, who one-timed a shot past Hawks goalkeeper Rob Lavorerio.

Saint Joseph's answered back in the 25th minute, when Cliff Jones headed Andrew Tursi's corner kick into the net, for his first of the season.

The two teams battled back and forth for most of the second half before Moseley added an insurance goal on a breakaway set up by Ortiz.

Freshman Andrew Bernhard made three saves on his way to earning the win, while Lavorerio stopped four shots for the Hawks, who were outshot 11-9.

The Hawks remain in town visiting nearby Philadelphia University on Tuesday, before hosting their first home game of the year against Temple on Saturday evening, October 22, at 7 p.m.
