A late goal by St. Bonaventure's Kevin Omokhua pushed the Bonnies to a 2-1 win over Saint Joseph's Sunday afternoon.
With only 5:33 left in the second half, Omokhua took the ball from the left wing towards net, and beat Hawks' goalie Rob Lavorerio with a shot along the turf to the bottom right corner of the net. The goal was assisted by a pass from Konrad Paszkowski.
Saint Joseph's registered two shots in the time remaining. One by Joe Grayauskie that was saved by Bonnies' keeper Jonathan Blanchard and the second shot by Cliff Jones traveling wide right of the net.
The Hawks' started the game off strong quickly getting off a shot in the first 40 seconds of the game. Saint Joseph's seemed to be holding the offensive advantage registering four shots compared to the Bonnies one in the first 15 minutes of play. Seconds later the Hawks were called for a foul inside the box and at 15:31 St. Bonaventure's Steve Roach capitalized on the penalty shot for the first score of the game.
The game would continue to be peppered with fouls with the Bonnies earning 11 and the Hawks with 9, including two yellow cards, in the first half.
Saint Joseph's was able to tie up the score before going into half time. The goal came at 41:42 as Alex Koufacos crossed to Andrew Tursi who headed the ball to Mike McInaw who then drilled it into the upper right corner of the net.
By the end of regulation, the Bonnies had out-shot the Hawks 14-13 and more fouls were called with St. Bonaventure totaling 18 plus a yellow card and Saint Joseph's 15 plus an additional yellow card and red card.
Senior keeper Lavorerio had 5 saves for the day.
The Hawks return to action Friday, November 4th at home against Dayton. The game is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
