Box Score

PHILADELPHI, PA - Saint Joseph's lost another hard-fought game as they fell to Dayton 3-1 Friday night. The game marks the fourth straight loss at home for the Hawks. The teams seemed evenly matched for the first 20 minutes of the game each registering 2 shots in that time. But 23:52 in, Dayton took the lead with a goal by junior Jonathan Welsh of an assist from senior Omar Jarun. Three minutes later, Jarun took a shot of his own but senior goal keeper Rob Lavorerio was able to get a piece of it leading to a corner kick for the Flyers. Dayton was unable to capitalize on their first attempt but proceeded to get off another shot and earn two more corner kicks in the next three minutes. The last of the three proved to be one too many opportunities. Damion Blackbum took the corner for the Flyers, crossing it to the center of the field where Nate Darr got his head on it and Brennan Randquist was able to drill it in near the left post. With 21:19 remaining in regulation, Saint Joseph's was awarded a direct kick off a Dayton foul. Freshman Nick Pozzessere took the kick, chipping it towards goal where Freshman Mike McInaw was able to push it into the back of the net from near the goal line. The goal was McInaw's sixth of the season. The Hawks were unable to keep the rally going and at 82:05 the Flyers' Omar Jarun cemented the lead by heading in a chip from Dasan Robinson.

Dayton out-shot Saint Joseph's 18-4 at the end of regulation. Keeper Lavorerio had 10 saves for the day.

The Hawks close out their regular season with a home game against Xavier this Sunday, November 6, 2005 at which the Hawks' four seniors will be honored.
