Longwood Wins Series Rubber-Game From Hawks, 10-1

FARMVILLE, VA - Jumping on top early, Longwood (3-12) claimed the rubber-game of a three-game series with Saint Joseph's (1-8), defeating the Hawks 10-1 at Lancer Stadium. Senior Rob Pimpinella had a couple of hits to lead the Hawks.

For the second-straight day, the Lancers got off to a fast start and led 6-1 after two innings, and 9-0 through five innings before the Hawks scored a run in the sixth inning to prevent the shutout.

Pimpinella (2-4) who had two hits, and sophomore Adriano Petrutz, who added an RBI grounder in the sixth inning, led SJU.

SJU starter Bob Unkel (0-3) could make it through just 1.2 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits. Alan Moore (1-2) went seven strong innings surrendering just one run on four hits to pick uo the victory.

Junior Greg Mason and freshmen Matt Gabrielski and Jereme Scott had hits for the Hawks. In addition to Unkel, Joel Grimshaw, Matt Gilbert, Don Werner and Jake Iampietro worked in relief.
