PHILADELPHIA - A strong offensive game helped the Saint Joseph's Women's Lacrosse team improve to 3-1 on the season with a 14-8 victory over the Lafeyette Leopards (0-4) Tuesday evening at Finnesey Field.

An early goal at 25:50 by junior Lindsay Brown opened up the scoring for the Hawks and started a 4-1 run for the Hawks offensively. Lafayette would answer back with two goals less than a minute apart, but it would be Saint Joseph's with the momentum builder going into halftime. Freshman Lindsey-Kate McCool would score with 34 seconds remaining to help Saint Joseph's take a 5-3 halftime lead.

Following two quick goals by Lafayette early in the second half, Saint Joseph's would score 6 of the next 7 goals to put the game out of reach. Sophmore Kerry O'Connell scored four goals in the run.

Saint Joseph's was led offensively by O'Connell with four goals, and McCool with three goals and two assists. Also talling goals for the Hawks were sophmore Jenny Egan with three goals, while Brown and sophmore Suzanne Finley each tallied two goals and an assist.

The Hawks outshot the Leopards 36-14, with senior goalkeeper Courtney Huff making six saves in the victory.

Lafayette was paced by Samantha Ziegler with four goals. Jaclyn Kushner made 14 saves in the losing effort.

The Hawks return the action next Tuesday when they hosts UC-Davis at 6 p.m.
