The University of California-Davis overcame a 5-3 halftime deficit to down Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse 9-7 Tuesday evening at Finnesey Field.
After giving up the opening goal to the Aggies, the Hawks responded with a three-goal run to take a 3-1 lead on a goal by sophomore Jenny Egan at 13:12.
Both teams would exchange two goals apiece, as Saint Joseph's went into the half up 5-3.
Trailing by two, UC-Davis came out hot in the second half, scoring the opening three goals to take a 6-5 lead on Katie McMahon goal at 17:16.
Saint Joseph's rallied to tie the score nearly 10 minutes later, as freshman Christina Colangelo scored at 8:35.
Both teams would tally one more goals over the next five minutes, but the Aggies netted two goals over the final three minutes to pull away for a 9-7 win.
For the game, UC-Davis outshot the Hawks 20-13, as SJU's senior goalkeeper Courtney Huff made seven saves in the loss.
Individually, Egan led Saint Joseph's with three goals, as Colangelo, senior Shannon Scott, junior Kerry O'Connell and freshman Lindsey-Kate McCool each added a goal apiece.
For the Aggies, McMahon posted three goals, while six other players added one goal each.
With the loss, the Hawks fall to 3-2 on the season, while UC-Davis improves to 6-4.
Saint Joseph's returns to action Tuesday, April 5 when it hosts Drexel at 6 p.m.
