Penn Bats Come Alive to Top Hawks, 14-3

PHILADELPHIA - Penn (9-18) erupted for seven runs in the fourth inning and coasted to a 14-3 victory over Saint Joseph's (7-21) at Murphy Field. The Hawks managed just four hits against the Quakers.

UP looked to be back on its heels as the Hawks opened the scoring with a run in the third and another in the top of the fourth inning. The Red and Blue answered with seven runs on seven hits in the home half of the fourth.

The Quakers added to their 7-2 advantage with a couple of solo home runs in the fifth inning and plated another run in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

Penn used seven pitchers in the win with Joe Wilamowski (1-0) earning his first-career victory, going two innings and throwing 28 pitches. Joel Grimshaw (0-2) suffered the loss for the Hawks with seven earned runs on eight hits in three and one-third innings.

SJU hosts Coppin State on Thursday.
