The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team fell at Atlantic 10 rival George Washington, 17-5 Friday evening.
The Colonials came out on fire, scoring the first seven goals of the contest, taking a 7-0 lead on Laura Hostetler goal at 13:07.
Hawk freshman Lindsey-Kate McCool got SJU on the board at 14:14 on a free-position shot, to cut the deficit to six.
Both teams would exchange another goal as George Washington took an 8-2 lead into the half.
It was more of the same in the second stanza as the Colonials outscored the Hawks 9-3 in the final 30 minutes to hold on to win 17-5.
For the game, George Washington out shot SJU 40-14 as the Hawks' senior goalkeeper Courtney Huff made 16 saves in a losing effort.
Individually, Kristina Jaggers paced the Hawks with two goals, as McCool, Jenny Egan and Kerry O'Connell each tallied one goal.
With the loss, SJU falls to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in A-10 play. George Washington improves to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
The Hawks will look to bounce back this Sunday when they host Richmond at 11 a.m.
