Saint Joseph's sophomore Colin Corrigan prevailed in a three-man playoff Sunday at the Navy Fall Invitational. Corrigan earned medalist honors by winning an 11-hole playoff, while the Hawks finished in a tie for fifth in the 15-team field.
Following a final-round 72 (+1), Corrigan was tied atop the leaderboard with Siena's Bryan Bigley and Winthrop's Steve Alminas at 143. It took 11 extra holes, but Corrigan earned his first medalist honor of the season.
As a team, the Hawks posted a final-round 303 for a two-round score of 602. Saint Joseph's finished 24 strokes behind eventual winner George Mason (578).
Senior Billy Stewart, who enetered today tied for seventh, posted a score of 72-72/144 (+2) to finish in a tie for fourth individually. Newcomer Phil Arouca, playing in his first collegiate tournament, shot 75/78/153, while senior Sean Seese shot 81-81/162. Ryan McCarty rounded out the five-man squad with a 86-81/167.
The Hawks return to action September 24-25 at the Cornell Invitational in Ithaca, NY.
