BINGHAMTON, NY - Four goals in a span of 14 minutes in the second half helped 20th-ranked Binghamton to a 5-1 win over Saint Joseph's in men's soccer action. The loss drops the Hawks to 0-2, while Binghamton improves to 2-0-1.

Matt Narode opened the scoring at 24:12, as he headed in a shot by junior midfielder Kyle Antos as Binghamton outshot the Hawks, 10-1, in the first half and held the 1-0 lead at halftime.

.Junior forward Joey Neilson made it 2-0 when he scored off a rebound at 54:16. Saint Joseph's answered back when sophomore Jim Slover scored the Hawks' first goal of the season on an indirect kick at 56:47.

Narode struck again when he headed in a long cross from freshman midfielder Cody Germain at 60:57. The Bearcats' final two goals came off of identical free kicks by freshman back Barry Neville that were both headed in by Graham Munro. The first score came at 64:45 and the second one came at 68:18.

Senior Rob Lavorerio started in goal for the Hawks and made four saves while allowing five goals.

Binghamton outshot Saint Joseph's, 18-7, for the game.

The Hawks return to action on September 16 and 18 when they take part in LIU's tournament, facing LIU and Adelphi in Brooklyn.
