Jim Brown scored his first goal of the season, but Saint Joseph's couldn't overcome an early deficit as Temple defeated the Hawks, 2-1, in an Atlantic 10 and Soccer Seven men's soccer match at Ambler Field.
Temple scored two goals in the first 17 minutes, netting the first by Mike Puppolo in the 15th minute. The Owls quickly added another, as just one minute later, James Stuevo scored on a header off J.T. Noone's corner kick. The Owls took that 2-0 lead into halftime.
SJU kept up the pressure in the second half and Dean Niedosik saw his header in the 59th minute thwarted by an acrobatic save by TU keeper Bryant Hosler.
Brown found the net for the Hawks in the 68th minute as he took a pass from Tommy Johnson and scored from 10 yards away.
Bryan Benedict had six saves for SJU while Hosler had three for Temple.
