Hawks Fifth After Opening Round of William and Mary Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - The Saint Joseph's golf team stands in fifth place, seven strokes behind leader Liberty following the first day of the William and Mary Invitational.

The Hawks posted an opening-round 299 (+15) at the Kingsmill Resort. Saint Joseph's trails Liberty (292), Maryland (293), Villanova (295) and Richmond (298) after the first round.

Individually, junior Ryan McCarty is tied for ninth after posting a one-over-par 72. Senior Billy Stewart is tied for 15th, one stroke behind McCarty after shooting a 73. Senior Sean Seese and sophomore Colin Corrigan each posted opening-round scores of 77, while junior Phil Arouca rounded out the five-man squad with an 85.

The final round begins Tuesday morning at the Kingsmill Resort's Plantation Course.
