Hawks Fall At Temple, 16-9

PHILADELPHIA - Despite a four-goal effort from junior Kristina Jaggers, the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team fell at Temple, 16-9, Saturday afternoon.

In the first half, the Owls jumped out to a 3-0 edge, as Temple held the Hawks scoreless over the opening eight minutes.

Jaggers got SJU on the board with an unassisted goal as she beat Temple's Caitlin Gregory to cut the deficit to 3-1.

From there, the teams would exchange goals over the final 20 minutes as Temple took an 8-5 lead into halftime.

Saint Joseph's senior Kerry O'Connell opened scoring in the second stanza as she cut the Temple lead to two, 8-6, with an unassisted goal at 28:20.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Owls would score seven straight goals, opening a 15-6 advantage with 6:55 remaining.

Saint Joseph's scored three late goals, but it wasn't enough as Temple held on for the win.

With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the A-10. Temple improves to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

The Hawks return to action Thursday, April 20 at Duquesne. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
