Hawks' Varsity 8 Defeats Delaware

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's men's rowing Varsity 8 captured a win on April 14 against rival Delaware on the Schuylkill River.

The Hawks bested the Blue Hens by more than a length open in good weather, which was a key victory.

The Freshman 4 also ercodred a victory by more than 30 seconds in the final tuneup before the SIRA.

The 2V8, Light 8, Varsity 4 and Freshman 8 dropped tight races to the competitive Delaware crew.

The Hawks will travel south later this week to race at the SIRA in Oak Ridge, TN, on April 21-22. It is SJU's first appearance at this regatta, which will include crews from Temple, Purdue, FIT, Marietta, UCLA, Virginia and Grand Valley. Saint Joseph's will boat 4 eights: V8, 2V8, Light8 and a Freshman 8.
