The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 5-2 on Thursday in non-conference action. Junior Jarrett Chirico led the way for the Hawks, winning both his singles and doubles matches on the afternoon. The win moves SJU to 10-10 for the spring season.
Despite losing the doubles point, the Hawks were able to emerge victorious due to a strong showing on the singles side. Chirico teamed up with sophomore Phil Bayliss to win their match at first doubles 8-5. He also won his first-flight singles match by a score of 6-4, 6-3. Also recording singles victories for the Hawks were Matt Glasgow, Pat Adams, Phil Garabedian, and Nicholas Tuxen.
