Hawk men's soccer drops 4-1 decision to La Salle

Despite an early Andrew Tursi goal, the Saint Joseph's men's soccer team fell 4-1 at La Salle Saturday night in a Philadelphia Soccer Seven bout.

For the second consecutive game, the Hawks captured a 1-0 lead on Tursi's 20th minute unassisted goal, only to see it evaporate into a loss.

La Salle scored three goals in 100 seconds less than 15 minutes later to take a commanding 3-1 lead. Two goals by La Salle's Ryan Dougherty and one goal by Jeremy Ortiz all took place from 34:30 to 36:10 in the first half. Ryan Richter added a fourth goal at 53:05 for the Explorers.

La Salle out-shot the Hawks 24-11, with Bryan Benedict making 10 saves on the night.

Saint Joseph's dropped to 1-5-0 and the Explorers improved to 2-3-1.

The Hawks are next in action against another Philadelphia Soccer Seven opponent, Penn, on Saturday, September 29. The game time is 7:00 p.m. at Finnesey Field.
