Martino's Four Leads Saint Joseph's past Lafayette, 11-7, in Women's Lacrosse

Sophomore stand out Jenna Martino scored four goals and added an assist in the Hawks (1-1) 11-7 win over Lafayette (0-1) at Metzgar Sports Complex. Saint Joseph's used a dominant first half, outscoring the Leopards 7-3 en route to the four-goal win.

Abby Renninger started the scoring for the Hawks with an unassisted goal seven minutes into the game. Almost six minutes later Lindsey-Kate McCool tallied another to push the lead to 2-0. Lafayette answered back with two goals to knot the game at 2, and from there the Hawks took over.

Four goals by Jenna Martino and Kelly Heuther in a four minute span afforded the Hawks a 6-2 lead. After a Lafayette goal, Renninger added another to cap the first stanza.

Christina Colangelo netted a goal to start the second half. Martino added two goals, while McCool scored her second of the game to give the Hawks an 11-5 lead, the largest of the game.

Suzy Herlihy made five saves in the net for the Hawks.

Martino's four goals pushed her total for the season to 12, leading the team. Overall, she has 14 points on the season, also a team-best.

Saint Joseph's will next be in action on Wednesday when the Hawks will take on Wagner at 4:00 p.m. on Finnesey Field.
