PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team dropped its Atlantic 10 conference opener to Temple, 2-1, in Saturday nights match at Finnesey Field. Junior defender Greg Dusing scored the game equalizer for his first goal of the season.

The Owls controlled the tempo of the first half, out-shooting the Hawks 12-1, but didn't connect on any shots until the 39th minute of play. Temple's JT Noone crossed a ball from the left side and Billy Kappock one-touched the ball into the back of the net to end the half with a 1-0 Owl lead.

The Hawks came back attacking in the second half, totaling five shots on net while holding the Owls to seven. Dusing tied the game at 58:25 when he picked up a loose ball in the box and buried it into the right corner of the net, but the Owls would strike back. Less than a minute later Noone scored the game-winner to give Temple the 2-1 victory.

Senior Bryan Benedict played well for the Hawks in net making six saves on the night.

SJU travels to Rhode Island on Friday, October 16th for a 7:00 p.m. match against the Rams.
