The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team lost to Massachusetts Amherst, 2-0, in Sunday afternoon's rainy match at Rudd Field.
The teams played a scoreless first half through slippery and cold conditions, with steady rain throughout the entire match. Despite the conditions, the Hawks outshot the Minutemen 6-3 in the first half.
UMass took the lead at 52 minutes when Minutemen's Stuart Amick scored his first goal of the season after Chris Roswess centered a cross from the right side. The Minutemen went up by two at the 70 minute mark when Umass's Andrew Henshaw scored a goal off a corner kick. The Minutemen held the Hawks to one shot in the second half for a 2-0 final.
Andrew D'Ottavi made seven saves between the pipes, giving him 75 saves on the season and a .728 saving percentage.
The Hawks host Duquesne on Friday with a 7:30 p.m. start time at Finnesey Field.
