The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team fell to La Salle, 5-1, in Sunday afternoon's match at McCarthy Stadium. Freshman Justin Kohler scored the lone goal for the Hawks.
La Salle got on the board 13 minutes into the first half when the Explorers' Nick Dundon got his first of two assists in the game with a pass to Ryan Murray, for his first goal on the night. Two minutes later Dundon set up Ryan Richter who chipped a ball over Hawks keeper Andrew D'Ottavi's head for the second goal on the night and a 2-0 La Salle lead at the half.
In the second half, the Explorers added two more quick goals with Ryan Richter assisting on both La Salle goals at the 51:54 and 58:27 minute marks. Saint Joseph's didn't answer back until the 80th minute when Kohler picked up Colin Baker's rebound and put one on the board for the Hawks. SJU would give up one more goal on a penalty kick for a 5-1 final.
The Hawks host Charlotte on Friday with a 7:00 p.m. start at Finnesey Field.
