Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team lost to Delaware, 2-0, in Wednesday nights match at Finnesey Field.

Fifteen minutes into the first half Delaware's Courtney Hewitt headed a ball into the back of the net off Jon Scheer's cross from the left side. The rest of the first half was evenly played in the midfield as the Blue Hens had just five shots and SJU had four.

Hewitt scored his third goal of the season when at the 60:09 minute mark, he went one on one with SJU goalkeeper Andrew D'Ottavi and was able to get the shot off before D'Ottavi could close him down. The ball went high and bounced into the back of the net to give the Blue Hens the eventual game final of 2-0. The Hawks had a few close opportunities in the late minutes of the game but were unable to connect on any shots.

SJU hosts Temple next on Friday, October 10th with a 7:00 p.m. start in its first Atlantic 10 conference match.
