PHILADELPHIA - After a dismal first half in which it scored just 11 points, the Saint Joseph's women's basketball team shot 52 percent and scored 34 second-half points en route to a 45-39 come-from-behind win at La Salle. The Hawks got a team-high 15 points and a pair of blocks from senior forward Brittany Ford as they improved to 10-10 overall, 3-2 in the Atlantic 10 and capped their Philadelphia Big 5 play with a 2-2 mark.

Down 19-11 entering the second half, Saint Joseph's scored nine-straight points over the opening 3:22 tot take a 20-19 lead on a Ford layup.

La Salle (5-16, 0-6 A-10, 1-2 Big 5) regained the lead 23-22, but the Hawks held the Explorers to just 1-of-5 from the field and a pair of turnovers over the next six minutes, while the SJU offense went on a 13-2 run.

The Explorers chipped away at the Hawks' lead, making it a 41-39 game with 40 seconds to go on a Morgan Robertson layup.

Following a pair of free throws from SJU's freshman guard Ashley Prim, Ford made came up with a block on Robertson's mid-range shot, and controlled the rebound.

Prim would add another set of free throws as the Hawks held on for their second road win of the year.

In the opening half, Saint Joseph's turned in its worst 20 minutes of the season, scoring just 11 points on 5-of-27 shooting (18.5 percent). The Hawks led 10-8 on a Ford jumper with 6:19 to go, but was held to just one free throw, while going 0-for-6 from the floor and turning the ball over five times to end the half.

La Salle would use an 11-1 run to finish the half and take a 19-11 edge into the final 20 minutes.

Individually, Ford 6-of-8 from the floor, 3-of-4 from the foul line and added seven rebounds to lead SJU. Prim finished with eight points, seven rebounds and a game-high five assists.

Robertson paced the Explorers with a double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Saint Joseph's returns to Saturday when the Hawks host George Washington at 2 p.m.
