The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team fell to Dayton, 2-0, at Baujan Field on Sunday afternoon. Despite Hawks' goalkeeper Michael Moulton's efforts in net with nine saves, the Flyers scored two second-half goals to earn the victory.
Although the teams would go scoreless in the first half, Dayton (5-5-3, 1-1-2 Atlantic 10) controlled the majority of play in the frame with a 9-2 shot advantage. Moulton made three saves in goal while Flyers' Tyler Picard had two saves.
In the second half, Dayton took advantage of a Saint Joseph's foul just outside the 18-yard line at the 48:24 mark to take a 1-0 lead. Flyers' Marlon Duran sent the ball into the upper right corner of the net for his second goal of the season.
After the goal, UD fired 14 more shots in Saint Joseph's direction while the Hawks were only able to get two shots off. Moulton had four saves before the Flyers made it 2-0 at the 71:45 mark and got his hands on two more for six second-half saves.
Freshman goalkeeper Conor Mulville made his first appearance in Crimson and Gray to tally the Hawks' tenth save of the game.
Saint Joseph's (1-10-0, 0-3-0) returns to action on Friday when it hosts Rhode Island on Saturday. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. on Finnesey Field.
