PHILADELPHIA - Backed by 18 points from senior center Ashley Logue, the Saint Joseph's women's basketball team topped Rhode Island, 56-42. With the victory, the Hawks improve to 14-12 overall, 7-4 in the Atlantic 10 and clinch a spot in next month's Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Saint Joseph's jumped out to a 19-10 edge, but the Rams used a 10-3 run to cut the deficit to 22-20 on a layup by Andrea Buck with 6:13 left in the opening half.

A strong end to opening period gave Saint Joseph's control going into the second half. The Hawks used a 13-4 streak to end the period as they finished the first half shooting 57.1 percent from the floor (16-of-28).

Despite shooting 26.3 percent in the second half, the Hawks never allowed Rhode Island to threaten. Saint Joseph's allowed the Rams to come within 39-31, but finished strong, outscoring Rhode Island 17-11 to end the game.
