Women's Lacrosse Downs Lafayette, 14-3, in Season Opener

Easton, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team downed Lafayette, 14-3, in its season opener on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Meghan McDevitt led the Hawks with four goals, while sophomore Grace Dinn scored three goals and each added an assist.

McDevitt put the first point on the board just three minutes into the game and Lafayette would retaliate with their loan goal of the half at the 23:25 mark. The Hawks would go on to score three goals in six minutes and add another with 1:55 remaining to put SJU up by four at the half at 5-1.

Dinn added to the lead with two back-to-back goals just two minutes into the second half to make it 7-1 before Lafayette would add another goal at 25:57. The Hawks then went up 13-2 in a 14-minute span with goals from Carly Kindbom, Jen Peters, and two goals each from McDevitt and senior Jenna Martino. The Leopards would score their last goal with 3:46 remaining while Kindbom would add another at the one minute mark for a 14-3 final.

Kindbom had three goals and Peters had two and an assist while goalkeeper, Alisha Aquilino, made three saves in her debut in net for the Hawks.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Wednesday at Drexel with a 3:30 p.m. start.
