Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's field hockey took on its second ranked opponent in five days on Wednesday night, falling by a 7-1 to score to crosstown rival and 11th-ranked Drexel at Buckley Field. SJU's Therese Doyle scored her first career goal for SJU's lone tally.

Drexel (1-1) started the scoring early as Susan Ciufo scored her first of two goals on the night just 95 seconds into the match. Eight minutes later, the Dragons doubled the lead on a penalty corner goal by Megan Keller.

The Dragons pushed the lead to four at the break as Amanda Fleischut and Kim Tunell tallied goals at the 17:15 and 28:58 marks, respectively.

Ciufo's second came three minutes into the second half to give Drexel a 5-0 lead before Doyle put Saint Joseph's (1-2) on the board. The junior found the back of the cage after a pass across the circle from senior forward Hannah Rogers set her up for her first career score.

Elizabeth Koch added a pair of late goals for DU to finish the scoring.

The Hawks return to action on Saturday, September 4, for a contest at Virginia Commonwealth. VCU is one of 10 schools on SJU's 2010 slate that received at least one vote in the Kookaburra/NFHCA Preseason Poll.
