The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team ended a 24-match losing streak on Saturday night with a 1-0 win over Iona. Head coach Don D'Ambra, goalkeeper Michael Moulton, and goal scorer Patrick McGlynn spoke with SJUHawks.com after the match. The video will load after a brief advertisement.

The Hawks came out onto the field attacking and controlled the majority of the first half. The squad had a few close opportunities, with the first coming in the 10th minute, when senior Colin Baker sent a corner kick into the box where McGlynn headed a ball on net but Gaels goalkeeper, Jesse Fullerton made a diving save.

Over the next 4:20 SJU fired four more shots and had two corner kick opportunities before the Gaels began to fight back with three corner kicks and two shots of their own but Moulton was there to make the saves.

Iona came back from the break attacking and took four shots in the first 16 minutes but Moulton was able to get his hands on three. The Hawks fought back with two shots in the next two minutes and at the 66:10 mark, McGlynn kicked off a celebration on the field and brought the Hawk fans to their feet with the game-winner.

After the goal, Iona reeled off the last nine shots of the game, but SJU kept its composure on the defensive end. Moulton came up with two big saves in the last 10 minutes, keeping the Gaels scoreless as the final seconds ticked off the clock.

Moulton's nine saves in the game give him 33 saves on the season for a .733 save percentage and a 2.67 goals against average.

Before Saturday, SJU's last victory was a 1-0 result over La Salle on November 7, 2008.  The Hawks (1-6-0) will take on the Explorers on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. on Finnesey Field.
