Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to La Salle due to a late second-half goal on Wednesday night at Finnesey Field. Goalkeeper Michael Moulton made six saves in net for the Hawks.

Head coach Don D'Ambra shared his thoughts with SJUHawks.com after the match. The video will load after a brief advertisement.

La Salle controlled the first half, outshooting SJU 14-2 in the frame. Moulton came up with two big saves in the 40th and 42nd minutes, but the Explorers convert on their last shot at the 44:31 mark. La Salle's Ryan Richter got a ball from teammate Jason Plumoff off a corner kick and one-touched it into the net to make it 1-0 at the break.

The Hawks came back aggressive in the second half and battled with La Salle, keeping the majority of play in the middle of the field. SJU outshot the Explorers, 9-8, and pulled La Salle offsides twice in the half.

The Hawks closest opportunities came in the 88th minute with two consecutive shots from senior Colin Baker. The first shot was blocked and on his own rebound, Baker blasted the ball to the left side of the net, but Explorers' goalkeeper John McCarthy made a diving save to keep SJU off the board.

The Hawks open conference play at Temple on Saturday, October 9. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
