Philadelphia - The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team dropped a hard fought game to Temple Saturday night, 2-0. The defense played well tonight aside from two opportunities the Owls were able to convert on.
The Hawks contained the playmakers for the Owls. Temple created a lot of opportunities but the defense stepped up to not allow them to convert. Temple's Tyler Witmer and Vaughn Spurrier each chipped in for the owls getting a goal and an assist a piece.
"Andrew D'Ottavi had a great game in net," said head coach Don D'Ambra. "He made some incredible saves to keep us in the game and give a chance."
The offense played well, creating numerous opportunities but could not find the back of the net. Jake Nelson had a solid game creating on the outside flank.
After the game, D'Ambra was pleased with the effort exerted by his players saying if they created a few more opportunities and converted, they could have totally changed the momentum of the game.
The Hawks will return to action Friday at home after having the week off to face Dayton. Game time is set for 7:00 pm. They will cap off their three game home stand as they play host to Xavier on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
