Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at Atlantic 10 Championship

Charlotte, N.C. - In the men's running of the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships at Frank Liske Park in Charlotte, N.C., the Saint Joseph's squad placed 3rd in the 14 team race. Senior Kevin McDonnell placed second among the 124 individuals that ran the 8K course to finish the Hawks top runner on Saturday morning.

McDonnell finished the course in just 24:36.6 behind La Salle's Alfredo Santana. Jon Mazzio followed for the Hawks (24:42.2) in seventh place. These two stellar performances were good enough to nab Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors. Freshman Paul Szulewski finished 18th overall at 25:07.4, earning himself the A10 Rookie of the Year award.

Finishing the top five for the Hawks, Sophomore Michael Rankin and Senior Dan Roark finished each at 25:18.

La Salle won both the men's and women's A10 Championships this season.

Up next for the men, they will head to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals on November 12th. The race is schedule to begin at 10:00 a.m. in Princess Anne, Md.
