Philadelphia, Pa, - The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team dropped conference game to Duquesne, 5-0, in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Sunday afternoon. Junior Goalkeeper Andrew D'Ottavi made six saves in goal for the Hawks.
Duquesne fired ten shots in the first half of playing, finding the net just once on a shot from Derek Patrizio at the 23.14 mark. The Dukes went on to carry at 1-0 lead heading in to the break.
Duquesne came out firing after half time, scoring four times in the second half and allowing just three shots by the Hawks. At the 47:59 mark of the second half, Simon Gomez scored the second goal of the game, giving the Duquesne a two goal lead. Three minutes later, Joshua Patterson added another goal to put the game out of reach.
Gomez scored his second goal of the game at 65:09 while Austin Lange netted a goal at 70:05 making the score 5-0.
Duquesne outshot Saint Joseph's on the night 22-7, as the Hawks took an edge on corner kicks, 4-3.
The men will head home to finish their season as they play host to Fordham and La Salle this weekend. Fordham is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday while La Salle is set for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
