Men's Soccer Season Ends with a 4-0 Loss to La Salle

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team fell to La Salle, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon as it honored four graduating seniors - Nico Galati, Jake McPaul, Greg Rom and Tom Smart - at home on Finnesey Field.

The first half ended in a 0-0 tie as La Salle posted nine shots to the Hawks four. The Explorers had four corner kicks in the first half but failed to convert on all four.

The second half was a much different story for both teams. La Salle fired 15 more shots for a total of 24 while SJU added three more to total seven. The Tie was broken in the 47th minute as Jeff Pio scored from 15 yards out to gain the lead. Jidell Roach added the second goal as he carried it up the right side and put it just to the left of Andrew D'Ottavi at 51:21. Tom Baker and Rob McIntyre added goals later in the half to insure the victory. Jason Plumhoff assisted each of the first three goals giving him 19 points on the season.

D'Ottavi made ten saves while John McCarthy had four on the afternoon.

With the win, La Salle improves to 6-8-4 overall and 4-2-3 in the Atlantic 10.
