Hawks Complete First Day of Play at SJU Men's Tennis Invitational

Sept. 23, 2011

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team kicked off its 2011-12 campaign on Friday with the first day of the third annual SJU Invitational. Friday's matches, originally slated for the SJU Tennis Complex and Finnesey Courts, were played indoors at Swarthmore College because of inclement weather.

Doubles play was canceled for the day, but three Hawk freshmen were in action in fourth-flight singles play. Devin Bostick took to the court first, dispatching Monmouth's Carl Jedlinski in come-from-behind fashion, 2-6, 6-3, 10-7.

In the late session, Sean Rojo dismissed Chad Llewellyn of Army in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, while Jason Sisti was a 6-4, 7-6 (2) winner over Hofstra's Johan Vila.

The rest of the Hawks will be in action on Saturday as play commences at 9:00 a.m. The first- and fourth-flight singles matches will be played at Saint Joseph's, while Swarthmore's courts will host flights two and three. All play is currently scheduled to be outdoors.
