PHILADELPHIA -
Sophomore Jordan Martin scored her seventh goal of the season but the Saint Joseph's field hockey team ultimately fell to Temple, 4-1, in the season finale on Sunday afternoon at Geasey Field.
Despite the start of the contest being moved up due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Sandy, both the Hawks and Owls came out playing well, with neither team taking control of the game from the other early on.
Temple (12-8 overall, 5-2 Atlantic 10) struck first as Alyssa Delp put a crossing pass from Tricia Light into the cage for a 1-0 lead with 20:37 to go in the half.
Saint Joseph's (4-15 overall, 1-6 Atlantic 10) answered 10 minutes later as senior Jordan Cotter fed Martin after a penalty corner for the sophomore's seventh tally of the year.
The Owls took the lead for good with 3:38 to play as Amber Youtz scored off a long pass from Molly Doyle.
Lauren Hunt tallied for TU with 25:20 to go in the game before Katie Briglia closed out the scoring on a penalty corner in the final two minutes.
The game marked the final time the Hawks and Owls will meet as conference foes, as Temple will join the Big East in 2013.
