Men's Cross Country Takes Third at IC4As

Nov. 18, 2012

BRONX, N.Y. - The sophomore duo of Paul Szulewski and Logan Mohn finished ninth and 10th for Saint Joseph's to lift the Hawks to a third-place finish at the 2012 Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) Championships on Saturday afternoon. The race, which was held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y., saw 124 runners from 14 different universities compete. Saint Joseph's placed ahead of all other Atlantic 10 teams, including La Salle, Duquesne, and Temple.

Coming off of a team-best 30th-place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals last weekend, Szulewski once again led all SJU runners with an 8k time of 25:21.4, improving 30.6 seconds on his time from the 2011 IC4as. Mohn, who placed 36th at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals, crossed the finish line of the 2012 IC4As in 25:33.4, 28.8 seconds faster than his time on the same course last season.

With a time of 25:34.2, junior Aaron Leskow finished in 11th place for Saint Joseph's. After being sidelined with an injury for the 2011 IC4As, Leskow came back strong for this season's finals, crushing his freshman (2010) time on the same course by 45.4 seconds.

With less than one second of separation between the two, senior captains Jon Mazzio and Patrick Donnelly rounded out the SJU top five in 23rd and 24th place, respectively. Mazzio clocked in at 25:49.9 while Donnelly recorded an overall time of 25:50.7, 5.3 seconds better than his 2011 IC4A race.
